Hi folks. I think you need to retract this statement:

“ The Rangers supporters, in a festive mood, were seen sprinting down Argyle Street in Santa hats, while the Celtic contingent followed them in knitted tricolour balaclavas, lobbing flares with abandon.”

As was widely seen, recorded, and reported, hundreds of Rangers fans went to the city centre looking for a fight. This included targeting Celtic-friendly pubs and tossing fireworks inside. That they ended up running with Celtic fans behind them is neither here nor there. Suggesting they were in a ‘festive mood’ makes them sounds like the victims. Which they most definitely were not.

If there is one sure fire way to lose subscribers in Glasgow, it’s to get reporting like this wrong.

Hi Martin. The line about the Rangers fans being in a 'festive mood' was a joke. It's in reference to the fact they were running riot through town wearing Santa hats. We write that a minority of fans were "hell bent on knocking lumps out of each other", which clearly indicates there was violence and aggression on both sides.
